Unibet are CROOKS
« on: April 29, 2008, 14:25 »

I just want to let everyone know of my terrible experience with Unibet.
I started betting with them about 18 months ago and have been a steady winner with them. Recently, they limited me to a stake of just ?60, even on short-priced favourites. Before I was betting 10 x that, so I decided to take my business elsewhere and asked for my winnings.
They got very stroppy, asking for loads of paperwork (which I had already supplied) including things such as photocopies of  credit cards that I no longer owned (card had expired so was binned).
When I complained they quoted their rule book at me (which was different to the terms and conditions listed on the website), put the phone down on me twice and said the paperwork demanded were "non-negotiable". Basically, if I didn't do as they asked (even though it was impossible) they would keep my money.
To my horror, although I was betting on the .co.uk website, they said they were licensed in Malta (the terms and conditions stated otherwise). It seems they hadn't bothered to update the UK website when they moved to Malta a few years ago. This was to be me lucky break, as they DO still have a UK company which IS still licensed in the UK (even though all their business now goes through Malta).
Having threatend them with court action in the UK and reporting them to the Gambling Commission they finally succumbed and paid up.
Had they not had this misleading info on their website, I'd have never got my money.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED - AVOID THIS BUNCH OF CROOKS.

I'm am sorry to hear of your bad experience, but happy to hear that you did get your dough back.
It's not the first time I've heard of problems with this bunch. It really is a shame that they blacken the name of the bookmaking industry by acting in the dishonest fashion.

Let's hope we get some decent betting opportunities when the French are finally forced to open up their betting market.

Found this on: http://forum.bettingadvice.com/showthread.php?t=36446&page=1

Since this thread is visited, I decided to put here all of my correspondence with Unibet in the last two months. Don't want to put here all the correspondence from the first time I withdrew there, when they were harassing me for two months. Just note the level of arrogance of some of the customer support officer (especially Simona). Unibet responds are in bold. First mail is confirmation of my deposit.

Unibet International Ltd

Dear Customer,

The Financial Department informed us that the verification process is still in progress, and the situation is the following:

They have contacted Moneybookers to verify your account from their end. Currently they are waiting for their reply. When Moneybookers responds they will be able to complete the verification process. As soon as it is completed, they will inform you.
We kindly ask you for your patience in this matter, as it will most likely take a couple of days for Moneybookers to respont to our enquiry.
Thank you for your co-operation and please don't hesitate to contact us should you have any questions.

Kind Regards,

Unibet Support

That was the last one. Note that in two months no one even mentioned multiple accounts or anything. They were hoping that will find anything else, and when they didn't they invented a fancy story... I'm being robed in a cheap way by a bookie that is considered B- at SBR. I'm afraid to think what can happen at some bookies with lower ratings....

Similar experience to yours, so advice is to swerve Unibet bigtime.
